I don’t know about you but for two weeks I could hardly tear myself away from the television and now that the Games are over, I feel a kind of a sense of loss. Yes, the impact of the 2008 Olympics will be felt long into the future.

 

Personally, I think the 2008 Olympics Games and the incredible performances of athletes like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt brought a paradigm shift in the concept “going for gold”. Success is not just about hard work and training but also about following a vision.

 

Look at yourself right now and identify how you got from where you were to where you are today. I am sure there have been a series of specific steps that you have taken that have brought you to where you are at this minute. And the fact is, they could have brought you to no other place. You are where you are, and what you are because of yourself. It has been your choices and your decisions over the months and years that have inevitably determined the condition of your life at this very moment.

 

If you are grateful for where you are in life, well done. If you are not at a place where you truly want to be, you can at any time start making different choices and different decisions, taking different steps, and you will inevitably arrive at a different place than where you are today.

 

The key is to define your vision and to engage in more of the actions that are more likely to bring about your vision. At the same time avoid those actions that will not bring about your vision or worse, will bring about something that you don't want.
