My name is Eddie Crane , the CEO  of EC Logistics ( Dangerous Goods Consultants )

I am a 54 year old male living in Durban , South Africa

I have been diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic about 5 years ago

My passion is Off Shore sailing and i have done research as to how many Diabetic persons have sailed around the world , my results indicate that no Diabetic has managed to achieve this

Together with Diabetes South Africa , Bayer Diabetes Care and my Doctor , i have secured a berth on the next Clipper Ventures Sail Race around the world to become a Round the World Sailor , i will be assisting in Diabetic research with Bayer Diabetes Care , using their state of the art Blood Glucose level equipment

I have been accepted as a Round The World crew member , sailing on a 68 Foot yacht after receiving training in England and achieving the status of the Royal Yachting Association’s International Competent Crew Certification ( There are only 500 persons worldwide who have been accepted )

The race starts in September 2011 and training is ongoing till then

There are ten yachts , each representing a city from various countries around the world , each yacht has a crew of between 14 – 18 , all novices with the exception of the Skipper who is a Full Time Professional

In order to achieve the vision of competing in this event , showing that diabetics can live a normal life style and participate in sporting events at the highest level . i need to raise sponsorship

There is an estimated viewing audience of over 460 , 000 , 000 ( 460 million ) people through Radio , Print , Magazines and the Internet for the duration of the race
