Dear Reader, During my training as a Life Coach we had to write metaphors. Metaphors are stories with an underlined meaning, the meaning can be different to different people. I thought that it would be a great idea to share this story with you, hope you will enjoy. So her it is .... Someone once told me a story about a tree. The little tree was still young and had alot of doubt about what he was suppose to be. Every now and then a butterfly would come to sit on one of his branches and asked him why he was looking different to all the other trees around him, but he did not have an answer. All the other trees started to be nasty, teasing him and making fun of his roots, leaves and branches. The only thing that kept this little tree from dying, was the fact that once a day a beautiful butterfly would come to sit on his branches and for those precious few minutes of the day he would feel as if he had a purpose. Unfortunately, as time went by and as he looked more and more different to the other trees, the more he started doubting his uniqueness, he started feeling unworthy of living. Everytime he saw a butterfly coming closer, he would hide his branches and allow his butterfly friends to go and sit on the branches of the trees that has been teasing him for so long. A few months went by and the little tree was so caught up in sorrow that he did not even see the changes that was happening to him. All of a sudden his branches was covered with beautiful pink flowers - he could not see it. Then one sunny summers morning. he felt a gentle touch on one of his branches, and as he finally looked up, he saw his butterfly friend as well as the beautiful pink flowers on his branches. He also realized that he was the only tree that looked this beautiful, non of the other trees had flowers. Slowly he started spreading his branches again, and as he did that he also made new friends, birds and insects came and soon he had so many friends that he forgot all about the other trees. He realized that by just being what he was suppose to be was helping the birds and insects find shelter, food and that he was actually the reason why they were alive. From that day onwards the tree stopped worrying about the other trees, he knew that he was what he was intended to be. The END Hope you enjoyed it and I also hope that you realize how special you are, what ever your purpose is, just life it. Just before I go... one questions. What new choices do you now gain by knowing this? Lots of Love Trudie For more information please visit www.choicelife.co.za |
