This week we will deal with weight problems and I will give you a 9 day detox program that will not only kick start your weight loss, but actually improve healing. For the month of September we will be making detox recipes at our cookery demos

Then I have been asked to appear on a national TV program, to speak on fasting - the spiritual and physical benefits, which means I have to be in Johannesburg this week, so I will be doing a few more talks, specifically on the issue of 'hormones and weight' for those of you who were unable to get to the last talks or due to the venue being fully booked. I have included an assignment from one of our students, who completed this assignment and had some amazing results. The assignment required that she remove refined sugar, wheat and gluten fro a period of 3 weeks, here are her findings..





 

For most of my life I’ve been growing up having sugary foods everyday and that stopped on the 4 January 2011, when I decided to eliminate sugar from my diet.  I use to drink Nestle Cappuccino with honey in the mornings, but I noticed that the Nestle Cappuccino had sugar in as well.  I started to look at the ingredient lists of all the foods that I bought to try and eliminate Refined Sugar.  Even the small packet of chips that I use to eat everyday had sugar in.

I use to get so emotional  2 or 3 days before my menstrual  period, and the mood swings that I use to have disappeared.  I could see that my tummy, hips and thighs where getting smaller by the day.  When I wanted something sweet, I love to eat my dates (nature’s toffee).  I also increased my fruit intake to 4 portions of fruit a day.  ( Orange juice for breakfast, Grapes for mid-morning, Mango/Banana/Apple of lunch and Dates/Nuts for mid-afternoon.)

The cup of Cappuccino made me realized that the caffeine  was the cause of me feeling nervous, and sometimes very irritable.  By avoiding the Coffee intake I felt so much calmer and the hot flushes that I use to get disappeared totally.  For now I rather drink mineral water with a slice of lemon in the mornings when I wake-up.

By cutting out wheat and gluten , and all foods containing them (e.g. Pasta, MSG, Tinned vegetables, breads) I lost a lot of weight and my stomach became beautifully flat.  This feels so much better than the bloated stomach that I use to experienced.  I have replaced pasta & bread with Quinoa, as pasta is very high in gluten.

When growing up, it was drummed into our heads that fat  makes you fat, and fat was seen as the bad baddie of food.  But my mind changed completely regarding the good fats ( the fats from avocado’s, olives, nuts and corn on the cob).  They would actually make you slim and healthy.  I’ve been eating more avocado’s and almonds everyday and I can see an improvement in my health and many people have remarked on how healthy and glowing my skin looked.

I also switched to a vegetarian lifestyle on the 17 October 2010, after reading the China Study by Dr Colin Campbell.  One of the reasons for this was to reduce my intake of saturated and heated fats, and the removal of all animal protein.  My body weight is more stable and I have much more energy. I eat my  ¼ cup of almonds about 4 times a week.

Those not wanting to lose excess weight can also use this program as a detox program.
