Arbour Week is an occasion to remind us of the
importance of trees and to be inspired to plant indigenous trees as a practical,
and symbolic, gesture of sustainable environmental management. Apart from the
direct impact on the environment, trees add aesthetic value. That’s why the
Chinese proverb says: ‘Plant a tree, raise a son and write a book to leave a
legacy’.
The tree for
2010 is Acacia Xanthophloea
Fever tree, Koorsboom.

National Arbor Week 1 - 7 September 2010
Be bold and go green - get your staff involved in
planting a few trees in and around your workplace. Invite your employees to
give ideas on how to better conserve our environment and reward the employee
who contributes the most innovative and / or practical idea, by naming a tree
after him / her !
Every 5 or 6 new trees planted, which can live for 50 -100
years, offset 1 ton of carbon dioxide.Different trees absorb different amounts of CO2 and older trees absorb greater
amounts of greenhouse gases, than new trees
