Dear Music Friends,

After a blissful holiday - I'm back !  I have such exciting musicians lined up from the local and international scene waiting to entertain us in the year ahead.

 I am over the moon with the first event of the year and proudly present

                          EDITH KLUG and JONATHAN CROSSLEY

                               Vocal                     Accoustic Guitar

 Edith is a Jazz songbird with a dream of a voice. Her singing is rich in tone and nuance. She makes the great standards truly her own.

Jonathan is a favourite guitarist of mine and accomplished as a soloist and accompanist. His Jazz guitar is fabulous!

But that's not all !

 Carlo Mombeli plays Bass and is regarded as a Jazz icon in South African and International Jazz circles. He has played with the great Jazz musos and is both an arranger as well as a performer.

AND - for something completely different - Actor - Poet, Gerard Rudolf will be performing ( not reciting) two of his poems in between.

When I  started presenting these recitals the musicians always asked,

" What would you like us to play?" My answer was and remains 'What you love to play ! ".

I don't presume  to anticipate your taste dear Music Friend, and this has unfailingly proved to be what sets my presentations apart from other venues. I believe in the artist as the arbiter of his own work and it this belief,I think, that has made Olde'n'New Recitals such an intriguing platform for music, musicians and listeners. Every recital is an adventure!

I can think of no better way to begin the musical year than with the gentle melodies and rhythms of this Jazz ensemble.
