Africa's wildlife is an inspiration, and to few people more so than to man the artist. In recent years Southern Africa has produced and stimulated a number of very fine painters who have earned themselves both national and international reputations. Amongst these being THEO PIETERSE ..

Theo has lived close to the outdoors since his early days. Like many of his generation he grew up with the hunting experience and so came to appreciate the wild places and animals.

Seeking them out increasingly and coming to love and respect them. With growing knowledge came concern for the future of the wilderness and a need to be more deeply involved in influencing that future. He therefore exchanged his rifle for paintbrushes in order to express his love of the wilderness and bring awareness to others, using his natural untrained, artistic talent. A more exacting and a more lasting enjoyment.

Theds studio is situated on the shores of Lake Kariba. It is from here that he travels throughout Central and Southern Africa with his caravan, visiting game parks to gain additional inspiration and materials as he works. He has exhibited in majore centres in the United States, as well as in Zambia, South Africa, .Zimbabwe and Sun City, where he has gained wide acceptance.

Theo has tried to express himself through various mediums, and found that oil on canvas is the most satisfying.
