I LOVE hearing the stories of how people met and got together. It gives me warm fuzzy feelings which allow me to believe that true love and soulmates are for real! My proposal story is not your classic soft focus one with slo mo and sweliing music but it is pretty special to me and I think that is true for everyone. With this in mind, The Edyn Collection has decided to celebrate the launch of our website with a competition called "I'm going to be Mrs!" which celebrates love and life in all its romantic forms! We want to hear YOUR story. How did you meet the person of your dreams? How did they propose? Send us your favourite picture and story to wedding@edyncollection.com and watch our facebook page (have you joined yet?) for instructions on how to vote and get your friends and family to vote for you! Prizes include Edyn Collection Jewelry (natch), wedding cakes, photography, DJ and videography packages and MORE. To get the ball rolling, I will share the story of how my husband proposed to me. We had travelled to Zanazibar for an island holiday and after 8 years together, I was assured by all my friends that a proposal and the accompanying bling was a foregone conclusion. A week into our holiday, no bling or declaration was forthcoming - the island cocktails and I had become far better acquainted than me and bling! Now before our trip, my husband and I had feverishly qualified as scuba divers so that we could fully partake of the pleasures of the Zanazibar ocean. We were complete beginners but we made sure that we had the full Scuba kit to look professional! Our bags were always packed the night before a dive and on one such night after the bag was packed, I decided that I wanted to take my (packed) camera to dinner with us. I started digging through our diving bag looking for our camera. Imagine my surprise when I pulled out a sealed plastic bag with a ring and a note asking for my hand in marriage - he had planned to propose to me underwater on our dive! My boyfriend (now husband) looked at me, looked at the bag, turned on his heel, remarking that "well, guess that proposal isn't happening this holiday." Once again the island cocktails and i were good friends! After that fiasco, I fully resigned myself to the fact that no proposal would be happening on our holiday. I mentally put away my wedding frock album and wedding decor mood board. The night before New Years, we took a different path to dinner with my b-f leading the way. We landed up on the beach in a restaurant built for two with candles lit all the way around with a twinkling sky above us. As my b-f had made it clear that there would be no proposal on this holiday (I "ruined" the surprise apparently), I was content to enjoy the romantic nature of the evening. After indulging in a lobster bigger than my foot, we went onto our sea balcony to enjoy some fresh sea air. I turned to talk to my b-f to find him on one knee, ring in hand proposing ever lasting love and marriage to me! There were tears (me), much toasting (my parents muttering "about time") and shattered nerves (my fiance - apparently I didn't say yes but squealed alot). It was not what either of us had envisioned as the proposal but it was one of the most special days in my life and I will remember the smallest details it for the rest of my life. So that is my story - what is yours?? We want to hear from you and
hear your tales of love and in my case, comedy! So send us those pics
and stories to us TODAY. Go check out our website - we have a fabulous selection of bridal jewelry to suit every style of bride! Yours in Jewelry, Shell |
